Dexter Available for Adoption with               Freedom Dog Rescue
4 year old Bichon X

Hi Everyone my name is Dexter (formerly known as Max). People think I am a bichon/terrier mix with maybe some shih tzu (hence my cute underbite!) I am a 4 year old male.  I have had a rough start to life and recently made my way from Montreal to find my forever home. I was severely matted and had to be shaved down but my coat is growing back and is silky soft and a little wavy. My foster family says that I am super smart and every day am gaining confidence. I define resilience and despite my rough past I have easily bonded with my foster mommy, daddy, 3 human brothers, a big k9 brother and feline brother too! I love belly rubs, walks car rides and curling up on a warm lap. I am looking for a home where I will find a family that is committed to helping me reach my full potential. I sleep through the night without bothering anyone and as long as my foster family sticks to routine I go potty outside with the confident guidance of an experienced forever family this will be a cinch to master in no time! I have to wear my cone right now because I am recovering from a skin condition that made me itchy I also have some environmental allergies which are under control with antihistamines. I can’t wait to start the next chapter in my life and if you are looking for a k9 companion who will give you lots of love with a tonne of potential look no further!

Hailey is Available for Adoption with Freedom Dog Rescue

6 year old St-Bernard/Collie mix.

A true teddy bear that loves her teddy bear.  Hailey is a very affectionate and vocal girl.  You do not need to guess what she wants or what she wants to "tell" you.  She is very well housetrained.   She loves her walks, is very polite and just wants to cuddle.  Even considering the size that she is, she thinks she is a lap dog and wants nothing more then to curl up with you or be your companion all day long.  She's great in the car.  Hailey was never exposed to children until she came into foster care.  She has adapted very well but will growl if she is hugged too long or too hard by a small child smaller than her.  She is great with kids otherwise (currently living with a 4 year old and a 13 year old.).  Hailey just needs a home with a family who will love her and walk her daily.  If you want to cuddle with a real teddy bear, she is your girl!

Darcie is Available for Adoption with Freedom Dog Rescue

6 year old beagle mix

Darcie is a true family dog.  She loves to be part of her "pack" but keeps to herself.  Her favorite spot to sleep is under her foster moms bed or in her bed on the main floor.  She loves attention when you first get back from being away and then is happy and will retreat to her bed.  She loves her car ride, loves her walks and is just all around a wonderful dog.  Darcie is more of an inside dog than an outside dog.  She rather hang out with her "pack" inside or in the car.  She suffers from seasonal allergies.  She has a little something to help her with this.  Darcie is a true gem.  a very quiet, content and happy little girl looking for and needed her forever home.  if you have a quiet laid back household, this one is for you.

About Freedom Dog Rescue

Freedom Dog Rescue

Freedom Dog Rescue is a non-profit organization which was founded in Ottawa in February 2015. We are an all-breed, all-size foster based rescue which operates in Ottawa and surrounding areas.

We are dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned dogs, dogs from shelters and taking in desperate owner surrenders when they can no longer care for them.

We do so by working with committed volunteers, foster homes, local veterinarians, and trainers. We are able to rescue dogs in need and provide them with loving temporary care until a well-matched carefully screened "furever home" is found.

Our fosters and volunteers are the heart and soul of Freedom Dog Rescue, and the reason we are able to successfully rescue and adopt out so many deserving dogs. We truly are like a family of friends and in some cases we actually are family and it's just so amazing that we can share our passion together and have so much fun doing it.

Being a foster based rescue means that any dog in care with us is placed in a loving foster home and not in a kennel environment.  We strongly believe that they have gone through enough hardship in their lives and all of our foster families are devoted to showing the dogs in our care how to be part of a family and feel loved. We are so appreciative of our foster families who work very hard to give these dogs a second chance at a happy life.
We are extremely grateful for your endless support in helping Freedom Dog Rescue become who we are today and what we will become in the future.

Available for Adoption Layka-German Shepherd Mix

Available for Adoption
Layka

Layka ~ 3 year old female German Shepherd Mix

Layka is a beautiful German Shepherd mix! She is only three years old and handles herself with such high maturity. She is very intelligent and eager to please. As she is quiet Layka can live in an apartment or a house.
Her name in native Indian means wolf. Layka definitely has the spirit of a wolf, she is very family oriented. She gets along with cats and other family members.
Recently she had an unfortunate accident and hurt one of her legs when she ran across the street one night and got hit by a car. Fortunately she is healing very well and has had no complaints. Layka behaves very well with everyone.
On many occasions Layka has had the opportunity to bark at others but has not. She does tend to shed a lot so she will need to be brushed everyday. She also LOVES to play! All in all, Layka has a wonderful heart and would be a great friend for anybody.
